We have acquired an in-depth knowledge of local products and are happy to provide you with information about producers. Royal Syndicat d’Initiative de Bouillon ASBL
In 1906, a handful of dedicated people decided to found the "Comité des sites et promenades de Bouillon", one of the first Tourist Offices in Belgium, with the goal of creating and improving the paths through the forests around the town. At that time, the castle was not really exploited and it was a certain Father Stroobandt, guardian of the place, who took tourists to visit the fortress by the light of his oil lamp. In 1919, the RSI (Royal Syndicat d'Initiative) became the official operator of the castle ! This began the era of great tourism achievements: walks, castle visits, bathing cabins, the first belvedere, tennis courts, etc. These novelties, associated with the advertising efforts of the time, made Bouillon an increasingly popular tourist destination. In 1925, the castle recorded 12,000 entries and then 57,000 ten years later, in 1936. In 2023, it was more than 130,000 visitors who crossed the entrance to the fortress. For over 100 years, the RSI has managed and maintained this jewel, the Château fort de Bouillon, with a master hand. Each year, it develops new attractions and proceeds with the work necessary for the conservation of the building. The RSI has also created and continues to organize the most emblematic events in Bouillon : the Hunting Festival, the Medieval Festival, Halloween evenings, the goumande march, etc. These festivities attract thousands of people each year and make the local shops live. The house: on the ground floor: there is a large entrance hall where you can already find many documents on visits to do in the region and a separate toilet with a sink. There is a living room with a large sofa, a coffee table and a flat screen TV (Proximus tv), some board games, some DVDs for adults and some reading. There is a dining room with a view of the fully equipped American kitchen and its bar. Le p'tit magasin devenu gîte Marie-Angèle est née en 1903 à Treignes, où elle a tenu un magasin jusqu'en 1973. Les clients belges et français (nous sommes à quelques kilomètres de la frontière) y trouvaient de tout, une véritable caverne d'Ali Baba. A la mort de Marie-Angèle, son neveu a transformé l'endroit en gîte. Le bâtiment a été racheté fin 2015 par un jeune couple de la région. Julie vient de Nismes (commune de Viroinval), David de Mariembourg (commune de Couvin). Ensemble, ils ont comme projet de faire vivre cet endroit, en conservant son nom et son âme, et de faire découvrir leur chère Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse aux touristes d'ici et d'ailleurs. Un gîte de 8 à 14 personnes "Chez Marie-Angèle" est situé au coeur du village de Treignes, à quelques pas de l'église et de la ferme-château du XVIe siècle. De l'extérieur, un bâtiment en pierres du pays. A l'intérieur, un vaste hébergement pour 8 à 14 personnes avec une grande salle à manger, deux salons dont un avec poêle à bois, deux cuisines, une buanderie, six chambres et deux salles de bains. Sans oublier la terrasse, au sud, et son barbecue. L'idéal pour les familles, amis, randonneurs... qui veulent vivre des vacances dépaysantes : dans le Parc naturel Viroin-Hermeton et dans un gîte à la décoration rétro.
